I started running last year as a new year resolution. I always admired people who run regularly but I found it boring and pretty much impossible. I could not even understand how people could run and hold a conversation at the same time! I completed the C25K course without knowing much about what I was getting myself into. I got the running bug and since then I have completed a number of park runs, 10K races as well as a half marathon. This year I am aiming higher with a marathon in mind. Running has changed my life. It provides me with the head space I need to keep me sane and my mental health has certainly improved. I love being outdoors an the wonderful running routes the Chew Valley has to offer, whether on road or off road. Through the club I have met some wonderful people that I am proud to call my friends. My priorities have also changed. Who would've thought that I would be packing my running kit in my suitcase every time I went away and even researching runs and races when visiting other countries... What I have learnt in the last year is that everybody can run. Believe me, if I can, you can too. By being a run leader I hope to inspire others and help them achieve their running goals, whatever they may be.
