Bristol & West AC training sessions
About our group
Training sessions commence at 7 p.m. every night at various locations throughout Bristol from Monday to Thursday night (inclusive). All sessions (other than recreational runners sessions) are led by at least 2 UKA coaches (National Development Coach Keith Brackstone and Chris Elson) and a number of Leaders in Running Fitness including Karen Watson, Jon Kavanagh, Roger Brocklesby, Paul Taylor-Morris & Anne Garnish, each of whom will take a group of varying ability.
When taking place at one of our track locations (Whitehall and WISE) a session involves a 1200m social jog, 20 mins running drills, and then up to 6 groups running different repetition/interval efforts with slow jog recoveries. In addition, there are runs on the Bristol-Bath Cycle Path and road, and when the nights allow, St George’s & Eastville Park.
For recreatonal runners, the real beginner can use Whitehall track and the adjoining playing fields to build up from a base of absolutely no running at all with one of our Introduction to Running Courses. These sessions are augmented by a Thursday group run lead by Anne Garnish with Paul Taylor-Morris and Tom Curtis. Thursday runs also commence at 7 p.m.
