Our group runs

Bude RATs welcome anyone with an interest in running who would like to join in on one (or more) of our weekly running sessions.

If you think you might like to join but are not sure, come and give us a try one Tuesday evening. Tuesday is our social running evening with several groups going out for runs of differing standards. A couple of groups will do runs of up to 5K with other groups running further/harder. The co-ordinator for that evening will slot you into a suitable group and the group will love to show you one of our local runs.

It will not cost anything for the first Tuesday evening; thereafter you can either join the Club as a member or just run with us on Tuesday evenings when it is convenient for you for a fee of £1 per evening.

We have two weekly organised run sessions, starting from the Cricket Pavilion (by the cricket ground on Summerleaze Down*) at 6.30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tuesday evenings are devoted to social runs of varying length. Runners attending on Tuesdays are expected to group according to ability (with the proviso that the ‘social’ emphasis implies that no runner will run by themselves.)

Thursday evenings now offer two options.

  1. More structured training / coaching typically comprising intervals or hill reps, with experienced club members who, between them, provide support for beginners through to those competing in major events.
  2.  A gentle social run-1 hour.

Where we run/train depends on many factors including the weather, wind and the abilities of those who turn up. In summer it tends to be on the cycle track or off-road, for winter evenings we are more dependent on street-lit areas.
