Bernadette Knill

My running journey started about 35 years ago, like many people I was inspired by the Great North Run in the eighties. I loved running and was fortunate in being able to coach a group of youngsters at a local athletics club. However as work and life commitments gradually increased the time that I allocated to running gradually decreased. In 2016 I realised I needed to run again. I can't count the number of times I started C25K on my own, always giving up. It was so hard on my own. Last year I saw a group of runners in Coxhoe and decided to find out more about them, although I knew I'd never be able to run as far or as fast as they were! I joined the group in October 2019 and in December I completed my first Park Run 5k. Without a doubt I couldn't have done it without the support and knowledge of this group. Now, in my mid 60s I'd like to support others with their running too and show them that anything is possible!
