Susan Forbes

I couldn't run to the end of my road, then joined Pacers in Sept '14. I did a very slow 5k Parkrun in October & hated it! Only ever done 4 but I love running even with knee/back problems which Physio & Chiro help with. I got new Asics trainers & got a little faster doing Intervals & Time Trials & joining every run as an Intermediate. Even head torchruns in the sleet! I ran every day in the snow & ice of Xmas '14 in my new trail shoes & weekends on my own around Cantley & hit 10k up Armthorpe Pit Top in New Year '15.
Since joining Pacers I've run in all weathers day & night on my own & in groups, entered lots of 5k & 10k road races & events, done head torch & fun runs (the only ones I didn't enjoy strangely?) & loved cross country & relay running for my club & the tough hilly SY Road Leagues.
I trained as a LiRF in March '15 to coach others, also as guide runner & first aider & attend DAC Directors meetings to represent Pacers.
I've run in woods, up hills & down valleys in Sheffield, along the Thames in London & on the beach from Whitby to Sandsend & Norfolk.
On holiday October '15 in Milan I fell - tripped on a metal sawn off pole spectacularly between tram lines & canalside running to take a photo of a vintage tram (but not on a run!) Bruised head to foot. Badly broken upper right arm put a stop to everything for 3 months but I was back to run Percy Pud 10k in December only 5 mins slower than my PB, then trained for a Half Marathon in the spring. Still not got full mobility back so no obstacle races for me!
Most of all I've met fun friendly folks & made friends for life & I am now a runner who feels the benefits in mind, body & soul. Pacers really are ace!
I wear my club vest with pride. In April I ran Sheffield Half Marathon in 2.32 age 59 after training with fellow Pacers.
I went to the NW Highlands to run 5 races in the Cape Wrath Challenge '15, loved Round Sheffield Run & 10 Ten 10 on my 60th in Oct, am now training for London Marathon age 60!
