I started running for fun in my 30's, having always hated running at school especially cross country! But now I enjoy all kinds of running: Park runs, road running, trail running, off-road, cross country, track sessions and any distance is good too from 400m on the track, 5k, 10k, half marathons to marathons. I am a great advocate of the health benefits of all types of running. Running as part of a group is great for the social aspects and encouraging each other but I also enjoy running on my own as it gives me time to think and maybe admire the scenery and countryside. The biggest buzz I get is helping others with their running and fitness goals. This has led me to running two 'Couch to 5k' programmes at work and to helping out as a Run Leader with the Heaton Park Run Together group. It's great to see people progress and achieve what they didn't think possible!
