Welcome to our running group

About our group

Walkers, Joggers and Runners welcome to Kirkstall Abbey Ladies

If you would like to join us, you're very welcome to come along anytime. We are a very friendly, fun, diverse and inclusive group . Welcoming ladies from all walks of life.

Our FREE social run group for beginners and beyond will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.45pm all year around by the abbey ruins entrance.  We walk, jog, run, chat together and most importantly have fun as a group.

Please book a session on my RunTogether website. You will see a listing for every Tuesday and Thursday, so please just book the sessions you plan to attend.https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/KirkstallAbbeyLadies

If you can't attend your booked session please just cancel your session and I'll see you at the next session. You don't need to call or text me but you're very welcome to post that you can't make it in our community group or send me an email at:
Itsnatasha.hamlet@gmail.com

If you arrive early please wait for some other ladies to arrive or go for a small warm up walk around the Abbey to keep yourself moving and motivated. We will then start at 7.45pm prompt.

If you're running late just get to the Abbey when you can, come and find me and the group and join in where possible when you've warmed with some stretches/a walk)

I will take the register with my RunTogether app. I get a list of everyone booked onto the session, which then allows me to tick off each lady who turns ups. It also allows to me have access to you're registered emergency contact details and send emails to ladies booked on. And also allows me to keep track of group numbers and if I'll need book in additional run leaders that week to support our bigger sessions. So please make sure every week you book a slot.

Each session will start with some group warm up sessions, we will split the group between beginners and beyonders.
- if you don't fancy running but would like to join us to be a walk and chat, then please still come along and warm up, walk around the route with us and cool down the same way.

-Beginners have the option to follow the couch to 5k program or set some individual targets using small route around the Abbey grounds.

- Beyonders can either continue running around the Abbey with the beginners or extend their journey around the back of the Abbey ruins, up near the tennis courts or onto the main road towards Kirkstall forge and back.

We will then all meet back to cool down after roughly 30 minutes. With the aim of leaving the park by 8.30pm prompt.

Please make sure you always have suitable running trainers, comfortable clothing and water (a watch/phone if possible). And make sure you always have REST day between each run.

I would really like to find out what all your individual goals and targets are, so if you could send me an email or comment below with a little bit about why you wanted to be part of our ladies run group. So I can try and support your needs as much as I can going forward.

I just wanted to let you know that I have a Leadership In Running Fitness qualification and my role is completely voluntary (Supported and insured by RunTogether). I have chosen to commit to our free group in my own time because I love what I do and love bringing women together in the community to reach their goals, achievements and make new friendships (as well as staying active myself)
Please note - I put my kids to bed and then run down to the Abbey. So this is another reason I'm encouraging you to post in the group and keep on top of booking and cancelling sessions. I will always reply to your messages and emails but please bare with me with replies outside group run times.

It would be great to have the group sign up to some 5k/10k runs in the future. So if you want to set yourself a challenge or raise some money for charity, I will suggest some park runs and charity runs to sign up to in the future.

In our Facebook community group I love to post motivational quotes and take photos of you all and the group to keep track of your progress and journey to post in the group. It really helps motivate each other and proud of all your achievements when you start to see your positive changes from your very first step to physical activity to present.

I'd really appreciate and love if you could please take a moment to like and share my RunTogether page (and join our community group) and leave me a review.https://www.facebook.com/RunTogether-Abbey-Ladies-Team-Tas…/

Happy Walking, Jogging & Running Ladies.
