About our group

What is it?
FashRun is London College of Fashion’s very own staff run club. Sessions are free and happen weekly, during Thursday or Friday lunchtimes (click here for scheduled dates) from 12noon-12.45pm. Sessions are suitable for all levels; from beginner to advanced runners.

What to expect?
Generally we do a quick warm-up in Cavendish Square followed by a tailored 30 minute session of running and strength exercises (this could be in the form of a game, intervals or even team or partner work), then a quick cool down before being back at JPS for 12.45pm. We have exclusive use of the showers on the first floor for you to use, so you can feel a bit fresher before being back at your desk. 

Please note, we usually go out rain or shine, however, if it is pouring you will be notified and we will do a indoor active session instead. 

How to get involved
If you're new, joining is simple! Simply email Steph beforehand so she can send you a participation form to fill-out. Complete this and send back to Steph.

Then all you have to do is sign-up on here. This is essentially our online register so we know who to expect on the day.

Honestly, the hardest part is getting away from your desk...
We meet promptly outside JPS at 12noon and when everyone's arrived we head to Cavendish Square for a quick warm-up. Now, that's not so hard is it?!

What you need to know for the first session:

  1. Start time12noon - you will be informed of the dates each month of the run 
  2. Please meet at London College of Fashion, 20 John Princes Street, London, W1G 0BJ (JPS) outside the front of the building to the left. Please do not block the entrance.
  3. Kit list: Please come dressed in appropriate fitness clothing including trainers such as:
    • leggings/shorts
    • t-shirt
    • watch (sports/normal if you have one)
    • please bring your phone ideally in a suitable sports arm band holder or running belt (ask me if you would like to borrow one for the first session), your staff card and an oyster/bank card with you for safety.
  4. Weather conditions/preparation: If it is to be hot please make sure you have hydrated during the morning and bring a bottle of water if you feel you may need it. If it is cold/wet please dress accordingly. Ideally you should have a snack 1 - 2 hours (depending on how quickly you digest it can be 30 minutes) before the run to ensure you are energised.
  5. Safety: London, especially Oxford Circus, is very busy and accordingly please be mindful of your environment and respectful of walkers, cyclists, park users, traffic, cars and the terrain you are running on.
  6. Showering at JPS: we have shower facilities for UAL staff members to use (two showers). Please use the shower as quickly as you can. We have exclusive access to the male and female showers in the toilets on the first floor, by RH Space. These will be closed for 30 minutes between 12.30-1pm for our use. Please ensure that the spaces are left clean and tidy. The Club has a provision of toiletries including shampoo, conditioner and body wash for shower use. Please bring your own towel.
  7. Lockers: Please contact Steph should you wish to use a locker (lcoated in the hot desk room on 1st Floor). Please bag drop to the locker in advance. Please keep the room code on you. More instructions are included in the Club Rules.
  8. Club rules & disclaimer & health questionnaire signature: Please make sure you have thoroughly read the club rules and completed the Participation Form. PLease give this to Steph (located in room 132, JPS) prior to the run (latest by 11.30am on the day of the run)
  9. Injuries or Emergencies: If there are any injuries or emergencies during the run, please tell the nearest runners and contact Steph or Sonja ASAP. Their mobile numbers will be given to you prior to the run. 
  10. Post run: Runs will be rewarded with energy bars . Please let us know of any allergies prior to trying the snacks and see ingredients.
