About our group
Melton Running club or MRC was formed in 2013 by a local runner struggling with his own depression and agoraphobia who wanted a running group to both bring people together and show off his passion of running.
There has always been runners in Melton but so many people were doing their own thing, having somewhere for runners to go regardless of speed, experience and ability was the aim. From the around 60 people at the first "Couch to 5k" in January 2013, the group has grown significantly becoming one of the most succesful RunTogether clubs ever in the UK. In 2015, the club won the East Midlands club and Run Leader of the year.
The club attracts some 400 runners annually, in usual circumstances 100+ people every monday night, certainly 200-250 has not been unheard of. We are very proud that Melton Running club has been near the forefront of turning engagement figures into a reality throughout the Borough in regards to participation in Sports and Lesiure.
The club is massively open to all, their should be no barriers to participation: We have had people run with us who have had secondary mental health issues, diabetes, anorexia, learning disability and visual impairment; we will do our best to help with any barrier to participation.
