My name's Sion. I'm the current Run Leader at Decathlon Giltbrook.
After having my son in 2013 I met and started running with the ladies at Notts Women Runners. I joined the NWR committee, assisted at various beginner groups and social runs and eventually went on to qualify as Run Leader culminating in my own buggy running group in 2015 and in 2016 I began a group that ran from Decathlon at Giltbrook.
I started my running journey back in 2007 as part of a weight loss programme. After dabbling with triathlon for a while, I decided after the birth of my son to concentrate on one discipline and so settled on running because it was easy to pull on my trainers and get out the door - there was no waiting for good weather (yes, I run in rain or shine!) or timetables to stick to. Since making that decision I've done runs and races of all distances and types from fun runs to Parkruns to obstacle races, mud runs and half marathons.
I'm passionate about women's running, and being inspired by sportswomen like Jo Pavey and Chrissie Wellington, I also became an Ambassador for the This Girl Can campaign to try and try to break down the barriers to women becoming involved in sports and pass that passion on to a new generation of runners.
I truly believe that NWR ladies can and do!
