RRC began running beginners courses in the Spring of 2012. The courses are designed for absolute beginners with the aim being to get them running 3 miles within 12 weeks. The courses are aimed at men and women of all shapes, sizes and ages that would like to start running but don’t know where to start.

The initial RRC beginners course were overwhelmed with interest and several courses have now been completed. Well over 350 people have successfully taken up running since attending one of the courses.

Most attendees do not already exercise and knowing how to start is the hardest part. The support and friendship that the group offers gives beginners confidence and guidance as they begin running.  An evaluation we conducted after one of the courses received very positive feedback with the majority of respondents speaking of the “buzz” of running and how it had helped them mentally as well as physically. The majority of our beginners progress into the main RRC running groups after completing the 12-week programme.
