I first started running in 2011, I didn't set out to be a runner! my goal back then was to get fit, so I joined the local gym, my first run walk session was on the treadmill, I soon realised this was my escapism from stresses of home and work life. Two month in and I'd done my first 5k on the treadmill and that's what I did week after week until 2012 that is when I met my partner who encouraged me to try park run, I did my first park run at Heaton Park (boy was that tough) on the 25/02/2012 and my first park run time was 28.40, I then started attending a run session held on a Wednesday night at Oldham Community Leisure with Alan and Gaynor Keane (that's when the running bug started). My first race was the Milltown to Moors 7K, then the Milltown to Moors half Marathon.

When the Milltown to Moor Triathlon was introduced in 2015, I entered as part of a team and did the running leg of the race, I was so inspired by the triathletes and especially by my work colleague Phil Buckley who has sadly since passed away that I joined Rochdale Triathlon Group and completed my first sprint triathlon at Wilmslow.

However my passion always was and always will be in running and I joined Royton Road Runners in 2016/17 since joining I have met lots of interesting, friendly and inspiring people and made some good friends, I have run with different groups within the club and have found everyone helpful and friendly, but most of all its good to know that you're not alone, we all experience difficulties or encounter problems when running and when chatting to hear someone say oh yeah I've had that and then offer advice on how to overcome or combat a problem is fantastic.

Over the years I have competed in different races including Fell, Cross Country and Road Runs I'm not the fastest runner, in fact I am more a plodder but enjoy the freedom in my mind running gives me, my aim for now is to inspire and help people to find enjoyment in running.
