About our group

This course is suitable for complete novices and we will get you from walking to running for a continuous 30 minutes/5k. So if you are thinking of learning to run, or coming back after injury or a long break, then do join us. Our beginners courses are open to all, but please note that we can only take runners over the age of 16 years.

We are UK Athletics qualified Coaches & Leaders with Lewes Athletics Club. We run regularly all year round and take part in various events and races around the County so we know running!

We have created this course because we know that starting out is a bit daunting and the difficult first step is getting out of the door! So our aim is to get you running in an enjoyable and informal environment with like minded people -  using the great outdoors as a backdrop to our sessions. The emphasis is on having some fun while getting more active.

Our course runs for 11 weeks (including a week for half term). We meet Saturday mornings at 9.30am and sessions run for around 1 hour. All sessions take place in mainly traffic free areas using Lewes green spaces near to town centre, and we always meet where there’s free parking available. 

The cost is £30 (payable at the first session) and on graduating you can continue your running journey with the club at a discounted rate. If you've got the running bug, we offer follow-on improver groups to consolidate your running and after that, who knows? Some of our beginner graduates have gone onto complete races at all distances including marathons!
