Paul Gurney

I have always loved sport and generally being active, athletics, football and power lifting in my early years and then enduro style Mountain biking later in life. I returned to running with a passion in 2018 after being totally inspired by a friend. In the beginning it was tough I couldn't run a mile without stopping to walk but week on week I improved 5k, 10k I lost weight 3 stone to be exact. I did my first half marathon in the July and then a marathon in the October finishing in 3hours 35. A year down the line I have since covered well over a thousand miles competing in many events including the Paris marathon.

The benefits of running for me have been amazing not just physically but mentally too, so much so that I wanted to give something back. I have since qualified as a run leader and mental health first aider. I am proud to be able to coach and mentor others physically and act as mental health first aider and ambassador for Run Redbourn.
