About our group
It is well known that exercise works wonders for both physical and mental health. We believe that a runner's high is one of the best ways of feeling happy and relaxed. Being outdoors and in a friendly social environment are extra benefits adding to overall positive wellbeing.
Our secondary goal is improving confidence with running. Whether that is simply getting out the door, or wanting to become faster, we understand that not everybody wants to join a running club. That's why we have created a zero pressure opportunity to train with others, have fun, and push yourself.
Unlike most running groups, we don't do a continuous steady run. Instead, we do varied interval sessions each week involving running for a set time or distance (or hill!) with recovery breaks - this means that you get your heart rate a little higher than you might normally on a run, but no-one gets left behind and you can recover for as long as you need to. Think of it like a HIIT session!
Running sessions:
Tonbridge - Monday 7pm at Longmead Sports Ground
These sessions involve short repetitions at a faster/harder pace with slow jog, walking or static recoveries. This will improve aerobic capacity and general fitness, as well as confidence running a little bit faster than 'comfortable'. It is suitable for all abilities and the sessions can be done at your own pace, with rest breaks for as long as you need.
