As we continue to welcome new members, here are are a few of your frequently asked questions answered...

Sole Mates Matlock welcomes ALL new runners, whatever your fitness or experience. Our sessions are always FREE.

It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure we are provided with emergency contact details in case there is an incident during a session. Please make yourself known to us at your first session so we can get you registered, it’s really important for safety that we know who to contact. 

Please come prepared for the weather (good or bad) including hi-vis clothing and torches in the winter and sun cream and water in the summer. We run in all weather except ice, so always check the Facebook page for updates if unsure. 

We are NOT insured to supervise children. Children are welcome to attend the sessions but must be closely supervised and under parental responsibility at all times. 

We sometimes take photos of individuals, groups or events. These will sometimes be shared on the Sole Mates Facebook page. Please make us aware if you would prefer not to be photographed. 

We have lots of dog owners within the group but prefer members to leave dogs at home due to the hazards that can be created if dogs are brought to sessions. Leads can be a trip hazard for other runners, and during the winter we can’t see dogs with a darker coat. We often have very large groups and wouldn’t want anyone falling over or on to a visiting dog so prefer to remove the risk for pets and people! Should circumstance ever mean that you bring a dog to a session, please follow Parkrun guidelines - keeping dogs on a lead under close control.

We welcome buggy running. The suggested minimum age is usually between 6-9 months, please check the safety guidelines with the buggy manufacturer. Buggies with air filled tyres and a lockable front wheel are most suitable. 

Sole Mates is a community running group run solely by volunteers, we are supported by Jog Derbyshire and Matlock Athletic Club.
