About our group

South Leeds Lakers is a friendly and FREE social running club for runners of all abilities From the Age of 15 and above.

We currently meet at 6.50pm for a 7pm start at Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club, Gipsy Lane LS11 5TT on a Tuesday evening for our club run and get between 60 and 100 runners - Come run with us and enjoy a chat and refreshments after.

We  have a  junior section using the South Leeds Stadium on a Friday 6-7pm. Run, jump and throw for kids aged 8-14 years. FREE adult track sessions are on the same night.

We are an Affiliated Running Club with England Athletics and also a member of the West Yorkshire Winter League and Yorkshire Vets Athletic Association.

To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable running experience we have  28 fully qualified run leaders, a (CiRF) coach in running fitness, 7 mental health champions, a qualified junior coach and three junior coaching assistants.

We also run FREE 'Couch to 5K' at least once a year.

Our coach, Wendy, does sessions every other Friday at the track. Sessions focus on running improvement.

All Coaching will be offered Free of charge ALWAYS!

We have a Walking Group during the lighter, warming months. This is part of our, Tuesday, club night. During the colder, darker months we have a monthly Walk & Talk session. This is part of our, Friday, track night.
