Southport Coasters Running Club

We are a  friendly, inclusive running club who meet together to provide running opportunities for everyone: whatever your ability.

Under the direction of England Athletics, we are part of a national initiative called ‘RunTogether’. We are all trained and qualified Run Leaders through UK Athletics, and are licensed to support anyone aged 12 and above. (Please contact us for a chat if you would like a child under 16 to attend – we’ve also had a number of under 12’s attend after prior discussion.)

We meet next to the Bowling Alley at Ocean Plaza – the parking is free and they are happy for us to use their toilets.

On Mondays, we meet at 6.30pm for a social short-distance run. Often, there is a choice of distance, from 5k – 8k. Our members run at a wide variety of paces – and no runner is left behind. That’s something we feel very strongly about!

We also offer a Monday run/walk session for beginners which lasts approximately half an hour. This is suitable for absolute beginners and for anyone wanting to return to running.

On Wednesdays, we meet at 6.30pm for a speed/interval session. This is also open to all abilities and is adapted for any beginners who join us. At these sessions, you choose how hard you train! There is no pressure to ‘keep up’ with anyone else, and there is always an option to take a break when needed.

We meet for approximately an hour, but if you need to leave earlier, that's fine if you let us know.

Many people come to both Monday and Wednesday sessions regularly. However, we understand that you may have work, families and other commitments. Just come along whenever you get chance – no need to join or book!

For each session, we suggest a £1 voluntary contribution which is put towards a charity collection. Please do ask if you would like further information about this.
