Welcome to our running group

About our group

The Plodders: Our Manifesto.

The Plodders goal is to help as many women as we can to achieve body positivity. We encourage an approach which combines exercise, a balanced diet, and a positive mindset.

We want to tackle the high levels of inactivity in women and to remove barriers that women experience in becoming, and staying, active.

The Plodders want to encourage women to be more accepting of who they are, to develop their levels of confidence within the arenas of activity and sport and raise their ambitions of what they can achieve.

We want to reach as many women as we can and help them to fully embrace their bodies and what they can do.

What we won’t do 😥

Endorse restrictive diets or dieting programmes such as WeightWatchers, Slimming World, Keto, etc.

Promote exercise as a means of earning food, or punishment for eating certain foods.

Promote restrictive “dieting”, “quick-fix” solutions or products on our social media platforms.

Promote unrealistic body images.

Allow anyone to promote any of the above within the plodders group.

Tolerate anyone being unsupportive of others in the group.

What we will do 😍

Provide a safe group for ladies to support and encourage each other.

Encourage open communication within the group.

Provide opportunities for women to be active.

Celebrate what our bodies are capable of and celebrate the journeys that they have been on.

Promote positive mental health and using activity as a means of supporting and achieving this.

Help women to focus on their own progress and achievements rather than comparing themselves to others.

Educate women in the importance of nutrition, food as fuel, and to encourage a positive mindset surrounding food whatever their personal goal.

Celebrate progress in fitness, health, strength, mindset and performance rather than weight.
