About our group

We are a super friendly and supportive group of people who meet up for runs three times a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Upper Beeding Runners was formed by Liz Anscombe Fitness in January 2018. Liz is a qualified Personal Trainer and organised a Couch to 5K run group and this group became the founding members of UBR.

Throughout 2018 and 2019 we grew and have had more people join us from further C25K groups organised by UBR. Both Liz and founding run member, Ruth, went on to become Qualified Run Leaders at the beginning of 2019.

We have all had continued success in our running as a group, and individually, and gone on to complete many races of varying distances too!

We try to keep things fun and vary distances usually from 5-10K with all types of terrain and difficulty levels. We are fortunate to live in a beautiful location where we can run on the flat river path, or up onto the Downs for a hilly one, or even down to the beach for a coastal run.

We run all year round, whatever the weather, and enjoy our dark evening runs in Winter (head torches and high viz essential!) and our Summer evening adventure runs out on the trails. We all run at varying paces and encourage people to go at their own pace and never any pressure to do more than you feel comfortable with. No one gets left behind and there are always options for each run to lengthen or shorten or avoid hills.
