Final Session of 2017

Cold weather has greeted our runners each Monday evening for the last sessions of 2017 with last Monday see the parts of the pavements we run on turn more for Ice Skaters than runners! However Duppas Hill Puffers are made from Sterling stuff as we saw Ade, Emma, Helen and Toni all turn up for what is not only the last session of 2017 but also the last of the runs in this particular session.

After a couple of out and back runs along the usual route it was decided that perhaps we should leave some of the paths as the conditions were to slippery and therefore we completed a couple of hill reps under and using the lampposts near the Tennis courts as shown in the above photo as the pavement was ice free there.

It was a sad occasion when we finished the session because as yet plans for any future sessions are in doubt while we wait for confirmation about budget plans from Wandle Park and also the run leader’s new job in 2018 that might not mean he can make a regular weekly date.

Still the group can look back with pride in how far they have come from the start not only of the sessions on Duppas Hill these past few months but also the ones we enjoyed in the daylight around Wandle Park during the summer. It has been a pleasure to get to know and see how far each of our runners have come along during this time and I hope that in some way they have picked up the running bug!

Have a great Christmas and a fantastic 2018!
