Winter Trail Running in Full Snowy Glory!

Winter has arrived with a wonderful covering of snow across Hertfordshire, and the trails around Welwyn are just waiting to be explored once again!

The snow gives a different perspective to trail running across farmland tracks and along bridleways/footpaths, and dependent upon depth and ice covering, develops strength and flexibility in the ankle and foot muscles. The lower temperatures mean we need to be kitted out with warmer clothing, gloves and hat and with, optimally, shoes with increased grip. I personally use Salomon Cross-Spike trainers, which have a number of small tungsten tips built into the soles, which provide for excellent traction in all winter conditions.

Check out the latest run schedule on the website (RunTogether / Welwyn Trail Running / Coaching / Summary), including an opportunity to run in the snow on 18 December - unles it has melted by then - by which time I'll be looking forward to the next snowfall!
