1-1 Cross-country Ski Training - Running with Poles

Book a session

About this run

This is a great session for those seeking to train for Cross-country skiing using long poles for running - which simulates skiing movements - but also for those runners seeking something new and exciting to support their fitness development. This exercise significantly improves your cardiovascular capacity by using your upper body as well as your lower body. Combined, increased energy expenditure equals higher calorie burn and more aerobic activity around the body. We'll practice how to use the poles efficiently whilst running, and how they can be beneficial over undulating terrain. Running with poles is popular in adventure races or ultra-trail runs. You may be practising for these, and this will be an ideal development session, where you can run with like-minded athletes, or just exercise with poles for fun! The run will be between 5 and 10k in length, and over undulating terrain, for upto 1 hour duration. See video for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB0LABCYlto
