I was thrilled when Kate mentioned she might be looking for an extra Run Leader for the club and jumped at the chance when she asked if I'd be interested. I started running when I met my husband. We would go out for runs together (he would be chatting away while I huffed and puffed a few short replies back to him). I'd never thought of myself as a runner but slowly grew to love the feeling it gave me. Over about 4-5 years, I worked my way from my first 10k all the way to running the London Marathon in 2009 (would recommend it to anyone!). After having my son in 2011 and daughter in 2013, I found it harder to get out running and went out less and less but I always wanted to get back into it. Then I heard about Earlswood Running Club and joined the 5-10k programme in January 2019. I was pretty sure I could still run 5k (I could, just!) and Kate's infectious love of running gave me the motivation I needed. I'm really pleased to be able to give something back to Kate and the club that helped me get my running mojo back. I truly believe that pretty much anyone can run and there's nothing better than going from thinking you can't be a runner to coming back from a run and feeling great!
