Sharmila Kar

I've been running regularly for about 6 years now and love the sense of freedom that comes with sticking on a pair of trainers and heading out the door. Running has honestly helped me maintain my sanity during some very stressful times and, of course, during the lockdowns of the past few years. Trail running is my thing and I love exploring new trails and finding little gems in the natural world. We are so lucky to live somewhere where there is so much beauty on our doorstep and I'm really looking forward to showing ERC members some of my favourite places. We'll check out bluebell woods in April, wild garlic in May, wild orchids in June as well as walnut trees, wild strawberries, rambling wild roses and many more things we hadn't noticed before. I'm a great fan of a picnic and, as well as taking a sandwich and drink on a long run, have been known to find the odd cake shop along the way; it's a just reward for those hills, in my opinion! So, if you've never tried trail running before or just fancy exploring in a group, come and give it a go. See you on the trails!
