About our group
In line with the latest Government guidelines and the corresponding policies adopted by England Athletics, our RunTogether activities can be resumed in a limited manner. Sessions are able to go ahead with a maximum of 6 people i.e. a coach or run leader with 5 athletes. Social distancing must be adhered to at all times. In practise this means 2m distance when side to side but if running behind someone the distance must be at least 5m. Based on this GR8Runners plan to resume activities from 17th June. Any changes in government guideline and EA policies will be implemented accordingly. For more information please contact me.
Welcome to our running group GR8runners.
The first group started under the "Fit for Life" initiative of The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM). The idea behind the scheme was to get people interested and involved in various sporting activities and it was my pleasure to deliver running to absolute beginners on behalf of RBWM. Starting with 1 minute walking and 1 minute running the aim was to get from "couch to 5k". Each week we vary the seesions to ensure they are fun, interesting and of course challenging. Along the way everyone has great fun to the extent we have become a regular running group now entering our 4th year and always welcome new members.
The group started in Eastrop Park, Basingstoke under the support of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as a "couch to 5k). The group has progressed very well and we are now an independant Run Together group meeting every Thursday in Eastrop Park at 12:30. We vary our sessions each and every week to ensure they are both fun and challenging. If you are a local resident or work in the Basing View vicinity why not come along and join us and encourage your friends and work colleagues to come along too. Breaking up the working day with exercise at lunchtime not only make you feel better in yourself but will make you more productive in the afternoon. We are always open and very supportive of new members.
The groups are led by Ged a UKA Event Group Endurance Coach, Athletics Coach and Coach in Running Fitness who enjoys helping athletes of all abilities and delivers sessions in a fun and friendly environment.
