Fred Urquhart

Hi, I'm Fred. Until pretty recently, running for me was a means to an end, a reluctant necessity if you will, whether that be a key part of a number of team sports I've played or just running late for a bus! I'm a very active person, and I liked the idea of running - the open road, time to myself without distractions, the wind in my hair - but when it actually came to it I lacked motivation to actually get out there. This year, though, my running journey changed. I moved to Faringdon at the end of 2022 and coming back from an on/off injury, I decided to do C25K with Far Runners. The motivation and sense of community from the group was amazing along with being forced to take my recovery slowly and running is now a vital part of my week and my life. I'm slowly building up my mileage and while it's always tempting to go further and do longer races, that's not always what running is about. I'm becoming a Run Leader to give back to the community that's given me so much and to support people like me who just need a little boost from a group of friendly faces.
