About our group
J and M Running is all about getting people running in Mid Sussex, whatever their starting point.
We have been going for ten years now and have met some wonderful people whom we hope are still running, a bit, a lot, we don't mind!
We are able to offer some group sessions for upto five runners only. Please click on 'Runs' to book a session. Must be booked in advance, please.
Also, we are not accepting cash - please bear this in mind. Thank you.
We are following Run Together guidance which has recently been updated (September 2020).
Please come to our runs ready to run. Bring your own hand sanitiser. Observe social distancing rules and other government guidelines. Stay away if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. Make sure your Run Together profile has your up to date emergency contact and health details on it. Thank you.
We (Julie and Marion) with Dave, Lisa, Gemma, Pauline and Paul can help you to get started and learn to love running like we do. We provide friendly, no-frills groups so you can run with like-minded people.
We are supporting the #RunAndTalk campaign with Mind which promotes awareness of running as a way to improve mental wellbeing. Watch this space for the next #RunAndTalk!
On Mondays a J and M Group led by Julie, Dave or Marion meets at 7pm at Beech Hurst. This group aims to help runners progress to running 4 or 5 miles comfortably. Suitable for any pace.
Tuesday mornings at 9.30 there is a 'Run 5k in the morning' session meeting at Beech Hurst for those whose running has lapsed a bit and want to build up again.
Also, on Tuesdays at 6pm, meeting at Clair Hall Car Park (RH16 3DN) is Paul's run. For all abilities who want to go further, and it's a mixture of off and on road, average distance 6 miles.
Wednesday evening at 6.30pm the 'Get me Back to 5k' group meets at Beech Hurst. The distance run will build up slowly and gently to 5k.
Lisa's 5k group meets on Thursdays and is aimed at those who have just completed a Learn to Run course and can run about 5k. These runs will be about 5k at a gentle pace to help you to build up gradually. Meet at the car park behind the Co-op in Lindfield at 7pm on Thursdays.
We also have an Earlybirds Group that meets at 6.30 am at the Dolphin Leisure Centre in Haywards Heath on Fridays (term time only), led by Gemma. The runs with this group are a little longer, running about 5 miles.
Julie is currently offering regular Downs Runs on Sundays meeting at 7.30am, moving to 8.30am fortnightly in October at the Jack and Jill car park next to the windmills. All welcome.
All these group sessions have to be booked in advance, £2 a session.
We donate the run money collected to charity – currently Crohn's and Colitis UK, St Peter and St James Hospice and CRY.
Julie and Marion are both qualified England Athletics running coaches and first aid trained. Lisa, Dave, Gemma, Pauline and Paul are also qualified run leaders.
