Hello! My name is Sammie. I caught the running bug when I attended Parkrun at Curden Valley. When lockdown hit, I was able to concentrate on my own running but found it hard to motivate myself. I found the lions in January 2022, and this was the motivation I needed. I made friends instantly and I don't think there has been a weekend that I haven't attended a lions session. Since joining the lions I have achieved goals I only ever dreamed of, and, through the support of run leaders and friends I have the confidence to train up to my biggest challenge yet. The Great North Run. The best part about being a lion is the community, friendships and social aspect. My Favourite distance; 5k or 10k. I am slowly building up the miles! Running goals; I've always said never, but maybe one day a marathon.
