About our group

The Royton Road Runners Couch to 5k group meets at Royton Cricket Club.

The sessions last for about an hour and are designed to help over 18sto achieve their goals, whether that is to get fit, lose weight, meet new friends, take part in a race or just get off the couch.

We believe that running is for everyone and is most fun when shared with others. We can help if you're a beginner or if you've not run for a while and want a gentle re-introduction. There is no minimum standard or level of experience. It's fine to walk a bit, run a bit, then walk a bit more.

The sessions are designed around an initial 10-12 week training programme, which in addition to a weekly group run, offers advice on safety, clothing and footwear, warming-up and warming-down, plus a bit of homework.

Group leaders are fully qualified and insured by English Athletics.

The overall aim is to conclude the programme with a 5k Parkrun, probably at Alexandra Park.

As the name suggests, it's about helping you to get started - it really is about lacing up your running shoes and getting off the couch.
