Hi everyone hope you are all looking forward to spring and some better weather to enjoy your running.

The summer league is starting soon and the races for this year have been announced. As you will see there is a mixture of parkrun’s and races this is to try and appeal to more Swift-tees and to reduce the cost of entry.

Here are the rules of the league and they will be displayed at the centre too.

The league is for FUN. It was introduced primarily as a way of encouraging new starters to become involved in races and create targets to aim for.

Only registered Swift-tees members with a valid membership number may participate.

Handicap is based on 2017/18 Stewart Parkrun PB, at the discretion of the adjudicator. Stewart Parkrun is the home run for Swift-tees, so this is a fair handicap based over the same route for everyone.

The best 12 of 16 results will count (if more than 12 races have been run).

A bonus ten points will be awarded for any race of 10 miles or more, run between the start and end date of the league. Only one bonus to be awarded per person, per league.Transfer of race numbers MUST be done through official channels with race organisers. Anyone running under someone else’s name or number WILL NOT be allowed to count that race toward their league results.

Members may wear whatever they want to races, including running tops of other clubs if they wish. Swift-tees members affiliated to other running clubs are welcome to take part in the Swift-tees leagues.

The handicapping is worked out by Sid and this year Kerri Muldowney is going to help set the league Facebook page up. There will be regular updates on Facebook and by newsletter.

So so goodbye and get looking at race entries before they all fill up.
