Kate Horne

I always wanted to run, but was told I never would - I had a bit of a limp and used to fall over when I tried! After lots of scabby knees and ripped jogging bottoms I gave up. Eventually I found a plan that got me walking for three minutes, then jogging for one, and built up from there. I ran my first 5k in 2006 and have been running ever since! My lifetime ambition, which I never thought I'd achieve, was to run the London marathon. I remember watching the first ever London marathon on TV when I was a little girl and had problems with my leg. I was just amazed by it - I couldn't believe anyone could ever run that far, let alone me! I completed it in 2014 and showed myself that if you want something enough, you can make it happen. I became a Run Leader to support other people to get into running. I've seen for myself how running helps keep me fit, sleep better, reduces stress, gets me to meet some fantastic people and gives me a feeling of wellbeing, particularly mental and emotional wellbeing. I hope I can support others to take the first steps to becoming active and get as much out of running as I do. If you're tempted to run, but not sure, give it a go! If I can do it, anyone can!
