Baxenden Bugs is a local community running group, based at Haworth Art Gallery, Baxenden, Lancashire.
We are an amazing and friendly group who try to cater for anyone who wants to run from absolute beginners to those now training for half and full marathons. Our aim is to support everybody and make running fun.
You're in good hands. The Run Leaders are Qualified UK Athletics Leaders in Running Fitness (LIRF) and are DBS checked.
Why not come along and join us? Details of the weekly sessions are located on the Runs page, but if you are still unsure, please contact one of the Leaders who will provide more information about the groups they lead.
Please can we ask that you register with RunTogether before you attend the first session. You can do this quickly using your Facebook, Twitter or Google account.
How We Started
Introducing one of our Lets Move partners, Baxenden Running Bugs.
Here is just a little information about them. Feel free to check out their Facebook page and website to gather more information about them, links at the bottom.
In 2015, a handful of members who attended Slimming World banded together to start running. After a few weeks, the idea of forming an official group came about due to the lack of ‘beginner friendly’ running groups nearby.
They decided to start a couch to 5k event and hoped that people would turn up and at the time was c25k group Baxenden. Since then, c25k has always been the ethos of the club and have held many successful c25k programmes since.
Over the last five years, membership has grown and now there are Bugs regularly travelling, competing and even winning events across the country. Along with raising thousands for local charities which included £800 towards a new defibrillator at Baxenden Cricket Club and helping to keep Baxenden clean with organised litter picking. With now 5 groups catering to all abilities, speeds and distances. The club has embraced a family dynamic that welcomes everyone, even your dogs, with ages ranging from 7-70.
All Members
We ask that everyone in the Baxenden Bugs group signs up using the process below as this helps us ensure we know who is running with us in case of any accidents or emergencies.
This also adds your details to the groups contact list so that the Leaders can keep in touch in the event of any changes or cancellations due to weather etc.
- Sign up to Baxenden Bugs: https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/BaxendenBugs
- Click on the register link in the top right hand corner of the screen
- Complete a few basic questions. You only need to do this once.
That’s it!
Signing up for the C25K Group
If you are joining us for the C25K Group, we ask that you also sign up to each of the scheduled runs that you are attending as this will help us estimate how many leaders and volunteers we will need for the sessions.
- Click on the Runs link and scroll down until you see the C25K runs
There are 2 runs you can sign up to each week on Monday and Thursdays. There will also be an additional run over the weekend and this will be confirmed weekly by your leader. - Please sign up weekly for the sessions you think you can attend for that week.
- Remember your login as after the C25K finishes there are follow on groups to help keep you running.
Updates will be posted on the Baxenden Bugs facebook page and on this website
