About our group
Experience and enjoy off-road trail and cross-country running (the new 'hot' fitness exercise) with licenced UK Athletics (UKA) Endurance Running Coach!
Regular 2K to 50k sessions for Beginner through to Advanced runners. Every session is free (except those with running poles and 1-1s) and there are no membership fees!
Run off-road on trails, bridleways and farmland tracks around the Welwyn and Welwyn Garden City areas. Weekend daytime or weekday evenings (with headtorch, if necessary), running off-road is exhilarating, challenging, and offers multiple opportunities to experience different terrain, all with less impact on joints than on tarmac. It's also very social!
Routes are from 30 mins to 5 hours in duration (2k, 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, 30k and 50k), and take in the scenic countryside of this part of Hertfordshire. Join us for a fantastic off-road experience - no maps or GPS needed!
All levels of runner - male or female, beginner or seasoned competitor - welcome. Our focus is on fun, variety of environments, running technique and, of course, fitness development!
What's different about Welwyn Trail Running is that you are running with a licenced and CRB-checked Coach. It's not simply 'follow me'. You receive high quality coaching - free. This includes: technique, performance and fitness development, drills/skills, warm-up/cool-down, training plan development and monitoring, injury prevention, hydration, nutrition, analysis and feedback, and mentoring.
Running off-road develops strength and agility, all whilst minimising the impact that normally occurs from constantly running on pavements and roads. Our runs are across undulating terrain, away from traffic, and noise!
Please wear 'trail running' shoes (Autumn through to early Spring predominantly) to ensure optimum grip and stability, clothing appropriate to weather conditions, and bring some water (belt attachment is optimum). Occasionally we will run a short way on tarmac to get to and from, and between, the tracks.
Sometimes, we run with long poles to simulate cross-country skiing, and increase our aerobic workout even further!
Group and private 1-1 sessions take place.
