About our group

Do you want to start running, but find it hard to motivate yourself?

Too many people start running but can't remain motivated, and without like-minded people to encourage you along the way, running can seem a lonely way to get fit.

Our Couch to 5K programme is open to all abilities, and you don’t have to be fit to take part. It’s perfect if you’re new to exercise – the plan is all about starting slowly and building up your distance gradually. We aim to get you from couch potato to running 3miles (5K) in just 10 weeks.

Our 10 Week to 10K programme encourages runners who can already run 3 miles (5k) to increase distance gradually and safely over 10 weeks.

All participants will benefit from a 10 week fully coached programme building your fitness and endurance, confidence and knowledge. You’ll learn more about appropriate kit, running form, stretching and injury prevention. In addition you’ll have access to a closed Facebook group, where you can share success and motivate each other when the going gets tough. Once you’ve registered please search for ‘GRC Beginners Class of 2018’ on Facebook and request to join. Participants from both programmes are encouraged to join our Facebook page.

Our enthusiastic and encouraging England Athletic qualified Run Leaders volunteer their time for the entirety of the 10 weeks, with the sole aim of making running and fitness accessible to everyone. They’ll be on hand to share tips and answer any questions you might have.

The programmes start on Monday 9 April 2018 from Grantham Tennis Club on Gonerby Road and costs just £10 for the entire 10 weeks. Sessions will run on Mondays and Wednesdays thereafter. All participants are encouraged to run at least 3 times per week to progress through the programme. All participants completing the course will receive a technical t-shirt and celebration BBQ.
