About our group

Whether you want to learn to run, get fitter or just get outside and meet new people.  We are a friendly group all just wanting the same thing, to get outside and have a workout with others but at our own pace. So whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your Parkrun PB, you make each session your own.

We both found going out for a run a bit of a chore and something we felt we had to do, but when we found we could run, walk and talk together, we stopped meeting for lunch and started meeting for a run.  So we decided, we wanted to show people who felt like us, that they could take up running too & enjoy it.  It doesn't have to be all sweat and tears, it can be fun and rewarding.  We want to breakdown the barriers that some people may associate with running and get more people to put on their trainers and come outside for a walk/run/walk. It doesn't matter what your ability is, with two run leaders we never leave anyone behind and everyone gets a great workout.

The whole session lasts around 45 minutes to 1 hour (we have so much fun that we always end up taking an hour!), they consist of a warm up with dynamic stretching followed by short bursts of increased activity and then slow recovery sessions (walking!).  The sessions are planned & organised to be fun and inclusive for everyone. They give a great workout for the whole body, particularly the heart, lungs and muscles as well as having a great effect on your mental wellbeing too.

Whatever your fitness level, I recommend that you build up your fitness slowly and only run/walk at a pace you are comfortable with on the day, Your Pace Not Mine.
