Kevin Joynes-Creed

My name is Kevin Joynes-Creed. I am a fully qualified UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) and Level 3 Personal Trainer. I took up running as a means to get fit and lose some weight back in 2013. Prior to that I tipped the scales at almost 20 stone and declared the only thing I'd ever run is a bath... Fast forward to today and I've run Marathons, Half Marathons and even completed a 50k Ultra Marathon. Running is now a fixed part of my weekly routine and for some reason I now describe running a Half Marathon as 'My Happy Place'. Since 2013 I have gained an awful lot from running, far more than just losing weight, my running gives me structure, space to clear my mind and a huge sense of personal achievement. It might sound a bit dramatic but running has changed my life. Having taken so much from my running in 2018 I decided I'd like to give something back to the sport that has given me so much so signed up to complete both my UK Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness and Coach in Running Fitness Qualifications. Qualifying in July 2018 I am now regularly coaching a number of runners of wide ranging ability at my local running club. Since qualifying I have continued my CPD completing a number of UK Athletics workshops on subjects such as Movement Skills Levels 1 & 2 and Physical Preparation along with studying for the Event Group Endurance Qualification. Alongside this I have also taken a group of new runners through a 'Couch to 5k Program' culminating with almost 90% of the runners who started completing their graduation Parkrun in December 2019. The enjoyment and satisfaction I gained from seeing my C25K group achieve their aims way outweighed any of my personal running achievements and ignited an even greater fire to help more people change their lives for the better.
