More than just a running group!
About our group
Who are we?
Established in 2018, Go Be Runners is a group set up to support the local community get more active.
We are a North Kirklees Running Group working to encourage the community to get active.
Predominantly running based, we also have a weekly walking group and arrange regular hiking and rambling meetings around the country.
We are affiliated with England Athletics and are continually evolving the group to include more activities and benefits for our members.
What do we offer?
We cater for all levels of runners with sessions aimed for specific speeds and abilities.
Even where there is not a specific level available, run leaders ensure faster runners loop back to ensure no one is ever left behind and everyone is supported.
When do we run?
Our regular runs are Monday & Wednesday every week.
Monday @ 6:00pm - Various Locations
Wednesday @ 6:30pm - Princess Mary Athletics Track
We also have a new run on a Sunday morning at 7:30am as we understand our members with work or family commitments can't always make an evening session.
Members of our group often get together outside of these sessions and we welcome you to join the Facebook group where most of this is arranged.
Where do we run/walk?
Our home is the Princess Mary Athletics Track in Liversedge just next to the new Spen Valley Leisure Centre.
We run from here every Wednesday and have a rotation of locations for our Monday runs to keep things interesting.
All locations are roughly within a triangle between Batley, Cleckheaton & Birkenshaw and hence are in easy reach of the Spen Valley.
Locations are on the sessions on RunTogether and also made clear on the weekly posts in our Facebook group.
Locations include: Princess Mary Athletics Track / Spen Valley Leisure Centre, Tesco (Cleckheaton), Halfway House (Birkenshaw), Oakwell Hall (Birstall), Batley Sports & Tennis (Batley), Mamil Cafe & Train Station (Brighouse).
What group should I join?
Our sessions are categorised in groups so you know the level of runner you will be with. Some sessions may be labelled as all levels but don't worry, you'll always be supported and we always stick together.
Safety Information
For the main runs you should ensure you able to run approx 5k at a slow pace for Group 1. This is ideal for someone who has just completed a Couch To 5K and wishes to continue to develop.
Please make your Run Leader aware of any medical conditions or injuries (this can be done confidentially via the RunTogether app or in person at the session).
In Winter months you will need either lights or high vis clothing (or both).
In Summer months when the weather is hot, it is advisable to take a drink and ensure you wear sunscreen.
