About our group
Chorley Runners is an inclusive sociable running group formed in October 2016, from an informal friends running group which started in April 2015 and is based at Astley Park, Chorley, Lancashire.
We offer a number of free, regular, scheduled running sessions suitable for all runners, including those who may have completed a C25K course. Our aim is to make running a fun and social activity which keeps us all fit. We are a friendly group, run by volunteers and cater for anyone who wants to run with no pressure and no time limits. We focus on running distances and not on pace or speed so everyone and anyone is welcome to any run session.
Our running sessions are focussed on keeping you running - the distances and duration may vary depending on the mix of people who turn up. The groups all loop or pause at regular points to ensure NO ONE, regardless of their ability or pace, is ever left behind. We have always used looping to keep everyone running together not as a means of increasing run distance.
Details of the different running sessions are listed under the Our Runs tab above.
We also run a 5-10k course 3 times a year, where the sessions are focussed on helping runners stretch their running distance to 10k over 8-9 weeks. We have also started a 10-16km running course when time permits.
All of the run leaders and assistants are volunteers, some of us started our running in the very first Chorley C25K. The run leaders are all qualified and insured UK Athletics Coaches (CIRF) or Leaders in Running Fitness (LIRF), DBS checked and First Aid qualified.. We also have a licenced and qualified Guide Runner in the group
Our only requirement is that we ask you sign up to RunTogether via this website and add Chorley Runners as your running group. #BookCheckInRun
Come along and join us for a friendly run!
